American Lung Association in Hawaii : Thoracic Society


Hawaii Thoracic SocietyThe Hawaii Thoracic Society (HTS) is the medical component of the American Lung Association in Hawaii (ALAH). HTS is committed to the highest professional and scientific standards and dedicated to the collection, interpretation, and dissemination of scientific information concerning all aspects of respiratory disease.
 
Members of HTS are professionals in respiratory, pulmonary, and associated specialties. HTS members advocate for patient rights and other health care issues at the local, state, and federal levels of government by their active participation on the ALAH's GovernmentRelations/Health Care Committee.
 
HTS was instrumental in developing and supporting the Research Fund of the ALAH. Members serve on the Research Committee of ALAH promoting research related to lung health at both the local and national level.
 
An Annual Membership Meeting is offered to the membership to enhance their knowledge of lung disease.

2010 American Thoracic Society International Conference

May 14-19, 2010 New Orleans, Louisiana

At ATS 2010 in New Orleans, more than 400 sessions will provide a comprehensive review of the latest information on the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases, critical illnesses and sleep disorders. In addition, more than 5,000 original research abstracts will be presented, giving attendees new perspectives on the clinical, basic science and translational discoveries that will shape the future of adult and pediatric respiratory care. For the first time, clinical case reports, as well as scientific abstracts, will be presented during the conference. Among the many topics to be covered are asthma, COPD, lung cancer, obstructive sleep apnea, pulmonary hypertension, cystic fibrosis, ARDS, and sarcoidosis. The Advance Program with registration form will be available in January 2010 at www.thoracic.org.
